The Forum also pledged to continue its joint flagship project as Governors’ Wives which is addressing sexual and
gender – based violence, as well as our individual projects which address women’s health, education of children, mental health, economic empowerment, literacy
and many other issues.
The Governors’ wives are therefore calling on the Federal and State governments to demonstrate political will to ensure that the needs and concerns of Nigerian
women are addressed.
They also appealed for laws and policies for inclusion and non -discrimination to safeguard the
interests of women, and where they exist, they call for full and adequate
implementation and the involvement of more women in policy and decision-making at all levels.
March 8 annually is a day set aside to celebrate women around the world and throughout this month, activities are organized to showcase the contributions of
women and draw attention to the challenges they face.
The theme for the International Women’s Day 2021 is, Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world.
