The victory of Professor Charles Soludo in the just concluded Anambra State gubernatorial election has been described as a lesson to all political gladiators that only popularity among the masses and electorates can win elections.
This was contained in a statement made available to the press where Hon Israel Adesokan, an All Progressive Congress chieftain in Ekiti State, congratulated the winner of the Anambra governorship election.
Adesokan who felicitated with the Governor-Elect explained that the victory of Prof Soludo is made possible because he identified with the masses, less privileged, artisans, and the vulnerable people in the State. He added that the election is a reflection of the desire of these sets of people.
“I admire the doggedness and determination of Soludo, despite all attempts to silence and frustrate him, he remained resolute and God gave him victory”
He continued; “Prof Soludo’s victory at the poll is beyond party politics. Remember, he advised the electorates to remain in their various political parties while they cast their votes for the candidate who they believe will identify with them and put smiles on their faces. I think Ekiti should take a cue from that. Getting the right person for the job transcends political groupings. Stay in your party while our bonds remain our collective bonds.”
The statement also gave accolades to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), and the nation’s security agencies for a very good showing.
“In the face of the volatile situation in the State, and a few glitches, the election was successful. INEC should put up a very good showing even better in Ekiti State, which is the next gubernatorial election just as they have done in Anambra.”
