Former South African president, Zuma to face corruption trial

The former South African president, Jacob Zuma will face a corruption trial next week after years of delay in bringing a case against him over alleged bribes in a 1999 arms deal.
The country’s High Court unanimously dismissed Mr Zuma’s bid for a permanent stay of prosecution over 16 counts of fraud, racketeering and money laundering relating to a multi-billion-dollar arms deal.
Mr Zuma’s legal team has argued that the long delays in the case will prevent a fair trial and that he is the victim of political bias.
