Ekiti State Government has concluded plans to partner the national officials of the Nigerian medical Association NMA to curb quackery in the profession
Governor Kayode Fayemi who stated this on Tuesday when he played host to the National president of the Association Prof.Innocent Uja, in Ado Ekiti said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that only certified medical professionals are allowed to practice.
The governor informed the visitors that his administration would soon establish an agency within the ministry of health that would further strengthen existing mechanism to monitor private health institutions in the state.
Governor Fayemi who lamented the woes occasioned by the activities of quack medical doctors in the society stressed that he would do everything possible to support the NMA in sanitizing the profession stating that his administration had been working assiduously to provide quality and affordable health care services to the people of the state to forestall sudden death .
He called for more collaborations with the NMA to impact on the human development indices of the state.
Earlier president of the association had commended the Governor for the various transformation in the sector.
Some of his requests borders on welfare,land space for the association and stamping out quackery in the profession amongst others.
