GOODWILL MESSAGES CONTINUE AS NIGERIA CELEBRATES 60TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Chairman of governors forum and Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 60th independence anniversary, with a call to all and sundry to continue making the necessary sacrifice that would ensure that the country attain the level of greatness envisaged by the founding fathers.

Dr Fayemi in his goodwill message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, also congratulated Ekiti people on the 24th year of the creation of Ekiti State.

The Governor , stated that all the challenges confronting the country are surmountable if all Nigerians participate actively and constructively in the process of nation building,adding that Nigerians must shun dissenting voices of division .

Dr Fayemi who renewed calls to Ekitis, both at home and abroad, to support the government in repositioning the State as a destination for living, investments and leisure, said his administration had embarked on a number of projects and programmes aimed at ensuring the all-round development of the State.

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly has said that the way forward for Nigeria is true restructuring.

Funminiyi Afuye was speaking live on Ayoba FM on a special programme organised as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s Independence Diamond Jubilee.

The Speaker argued that only true federalism as practised in America and other advanced federations in the world would serve the different interests of all ethnic nationalities in the country.

He recalled how the defunct Western Region developed rapidly because of the independent regional government of the parliamentary system of government practised in Nigerian at Independence.
