ASUU INSISTS NOT TO BACK DOWN ON IPPIS AS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THREATENS TO STOP SALARIES

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has described the directive stopping the salaries of university employees, who have not enrolled on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, as blackmail to weaken workers and make them enrol on the platform.

The Chairman of Port-Harcourt Branch of the Union, Austen Sado, who made the comments on Sunday explained that the union would not bow to the threat though some of his colleagues had not been paid salaries since February.

It would be recalled that the Union had on March 23 embarked on indefinite strike following the its disagreement with federal government over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System,(IPPIS) and other matters.
