FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THREATENS TO SHUT SCHOOLS THAT FLOUTS COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Federal Government has threatened to shut down schools that fail to comply with COVID-19 protocols developed for the safe reopening of schools.

The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, who said this at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja,on Monday, stated that the state governments making move to reopen schools were in tune with the directive of the PTF that states and other stakeholders should prepare for the full reopening of the educational sector.

While urging advising state governments to ensure that adequate measures are put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic before full reopening of schools, Nwajiuba said universities need to get clearance from the National Universities Commission (NUC) before reopening.
