Ekiti State Government has expressed readiness to commence fumigation of all Public Primary and Secondary Schools in the State, in preparation for the resumption of pupils and students of certificate classes from the COVID-19 break.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Foluso Daramola, made this known in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with principals of secondary schools and other critical stakeholders in the education sector in the State.
The commissioner disclosed that Government would also provide infrared thermometers, liquid soap, hand sanitisers, Veronica buckets, and other materials needed for the promotion of regular hand washing and improved personal hygiene when schools resume in the State.
Mr Daramola directed principals and headteachers to ensure that the running grants that would be paid to public schools in the State are adequately expended on procurement of consumables for the students when the ones provided by the Government are exhausted.
In her response, the President of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in the State, who is also the Principal of St. Louis Crammer School, Ikere-Ekiti, Mrs Rhoda Ojo, called on the Government to pay school’s grants for second and third terms for 2019/2020 Academic session, to make teaching and learning convenient when schools reopen.
