EKITI ASSEMBLY COMMENDS GOV. FAYEMI FOR LAUDABLE DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES DESPITE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The ekiti state Governor Dr.Kayode Fayemi has acented to the 2020 supplimentary budget to the tune of over ninety-one billion naira with a charge to all ministries,departments and agencies of government to maintain budget discipline.

The Governor while accenting to the bill in ado ekiti explained that the downward revision of the 2020 budget from over 124b naira to over 91b naira became necessary owing to the covid-19 outbreak which has crippled economies around the world and it became pertinent to review the budget.

Our Government house reporter Olugbolade Cole who was at the signing reports the governor saying there was no time for frivilities and there was need to maintain budget discipline hence the major part of the budget will go to critical sectors such as health and environmental reforms,interventions geared towards improving the lives of the people,ensuring food security in the agriculture sector,improving ease of doing business and focusing on other multi-sectoral sector of the economy for life to continue.

The Governor who commended the members of the house for quick passage of the bill despite the covid-19 challenges pledged his administration’s resolve not to shirk from its electioneering campaign of a better life for all despite the covid-19 challenges.

Earlier,the speaker of the ekiti state house of assembly right Honorable funminiyi afuye in his speech explained that the revised budget is in line with the five point agenda of the administration and promised to enact laws that will benefit the lives of the people.

Recall that the Ekiti state house of Assembly last friday passed year 2020 revised appropriation bill presented to it by the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi with an estimate of Over 91 billion naira against the previous 124 billion naira tagged, Budget of Deliverables.
