FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DECLARES WAR AGAINST RAPISTS

The Director-General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Mrs Julie Okah-Donli, has cautioned Nigerians to desist from justifying rape or get arrested.

Speaking while responding to questions from journalists in Abuja on Wednesday on the rising incidents of gender-based violence across the country, Okah-Donli said careless acts by parents were responsible for rape cases.

She accused parents of not properly bringing up their wards and children, explaining that 90 per cent of rape cases were committed by uncles, fathers, and relations.

Okah-Donli added that the agency would approach the Ministry of Justice to push for the establishment of a special court to try rapists.
