PHILIPPINES RETRACTS DECISION ON TERMINATION OF U.S MILITARY DEAL

The Philippine government has said it is temporarily suspending the termination of its military pact with the United States that allows joint military exercises with US forces.

The Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin who announced this on Tuesday said that the suspension was made upon Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s “instruction”.
He further stated the suspension will continue for 6 months and can be extended by the Philippine government.
Meanwhile, the US embassy reacting to the suspension in a statement on Tuesday welcomed the Philippine government’s decision and also stated that the relationship between the two countries should be more strengthen after the military pact termination suspension.
