Ministry of Information and Culture Implement 70% Local Content

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to implement the 70% local content in broadcasting under the new broadcast regulations.
The media aide to the minister, Segun Adeyemi who made this known to journalists in Abuja explained that the directive is aimed at sanitizing the industry, creating jobs, promoting local content, boosting the advert industry, and bringing the broadcast industry up to par with the best practices from around the world.
Adeyemi further revealed that the new regulations frown against the illegal and unpaid use of musical works by broadcast stations without payment of royalties while stating that the directive is with immediate effect
He, however, expressed confidence that the new regulations will re-energize the broadcast industry, deliver real value in the sector and grow the creative industry for the benefit of the practitioners.
