Ekiti State Government to prosecute parents who keep school age children out of school.

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education and Service and Technology, Foluso Daramola has again warned that parents and guardians of school age children caught hawking or loitering around during school hours would henceforth be prosecuted and made to face the full wrath of the law.

The commissioner gave the warning during an Enrollment Drive Sensitization Program organized by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in conjunction with the Universal Basic Education Commission at Ita-Ido in Efon Local Government.

He noted that parents and guardians have no reason to deny their children or wards access to basic education now that education is totally free in all public primary and secondary schools in the state.

Daramola stressed that the State Government would not hesitate to enforce relevant provisions of the state child’s right act to bring any erring parent or guardian to book.
