Ekiti state government commence administration of a vaccine to children under five years.

In a bid to promote health care services in Ekiti state, the state government has commenced the administration of a vaccine to prevent meningitis and other killer diseases among children under five years.

The deputy governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, who flagged off the programme in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, explained that the present administration is committed to making health care delivery service available and accessible to the people of the state at all levels.

Egbeyemi who was represented by the deputy chief of staff, Mr Tade Aluko, stressed that the introduction of men “a” vaccine would strengthen the health system and reduce morbidity and mortality of vaccine preventable diseases among children from age 0 to 11 months.

The deputy governor called on mothers and caregivers to make their eligible children and wards available during the programme to complete their immunization schedule before their first birthday.
